Instructions for Authors:

***Note to Authors: please make sure your contact address information is clearly visible on the outside of all packages you are sending to Editors.***

Submission of Manuscripts

Three copies of each manuscript and return postage should be sent to David L. Delmonico, Ph.D., NCC, Co-Editor, Sexual Addiction & Compulsivity, Duquesne University, School of Education, Pittsburgh, PA 15282. E-mail: delmonico@duq.edu. Authors are strongly encouraged to submit manuscripts on disk. The disk should be prepared using MS Word or WordPerfect and should be clearly labeled with the authorsí names, file name, and software program. A hardcopy printout that exactly matches the disk must be supplied. Each manuscript must be accompanied by a statement that it has not been published elsewhere and that it has not been submitted simultaneously for publication elsewhere. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted material from other sources and are required to sign an agreement for the transfer of copyright to the publisher. All accepted manuscripts, artwork, and photographs become the property of the publisher.

All parts of the manuscript should be typewritten, double-spaced, with margins of at least one inch on all sides. Number manuscript pages consecutively throughout the paper. Authors should also supply a shortened version of the title suitable for the running head, not exceeding 50 character spaces. Each article should be summarized in an abstract of no more that 100 words. Avoid abbreviations, diagrams, and reference to the text.

Include full names and authors, academic and/or other professional affiliations and the complete mailing address of the author to whom proofs and correspondence would be sent on the title pages. Please include phone, fax, and e-mail address, if available.

References and Citations

Format for references and citations should conform to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, Fourth Edition, 1994). This may be ordered from the Publication Department, American Psychological Association, 750 First Street, NE, Washington, D.C. 20002-4242, USA, phone (202)336-5500, fax (202)336-5502.

Illustrations submitted (line drawings, half-tones, photos, photomicrographs, etc.) should be clean originals or digital files. Digital files are recommended for highest quality reproduction and should follow these guidelines:

  • sized to fit on journal page
  • 300 dpi or higher
  • EPS, TIFF, or PSD format only
  • submitted as separate files, not embedded in text files

Tables and Figures

Tables and figures should not be embedded in the text, but should be included as separate sheets or files. A short descriptive title should appear above each table with a clear legend and any footnotes suitably identified below. All units must be included. Figures should be completely labeled, taking into account necessary size reduction. Captions should be typed, double-spaced, on a separate sheet. All original figures should be clearly marked in pencil on the reverse side with the number, authorís name, and top edgeindicated.

Page Proofs

All proofs must be corrected and returned to the publisher within 48 hours of receipt. If the manuscript is not returned within the allotted time, the editor will proofread the article and it will be printed per the editorís instruction. Only correction of typographical errors is permitted. The author will be charged for additional alterations to text at the proof stage.

Each corresponding author of an article will receive one complete copy of issue in which the article appears. Offprints of an individual article may be ordered from Taylor & Francis by using the off-print order form included with page proofs.
