Aims & Scope
Family Science will be the official journal of the European Society on Family Relations. To this end, the journal will promote the development of Family Science within Europe and around the globe, by publishing original research, theoretical, methodological and review papers that address issues pertinent to the family. Given the multiplicity of factors that impact on the family, the research that will be published in the journal will span multiple disciplines, and reflect a diverse array of methodologies (such as longitudinal, quantitative, qualitative, laboratory and/or field studies).
Articles are welcome from a broad range of researchers who study the family from diverse fields, such as Psychologists, Clinicians, Sociologists, Demographers, Anthropologists and Economists. Articles will also include a synthesis of research on a specific family topic across various (European) countries in order to expand cross-national understanding, collaboration and applications. Special thematic issues will also appear in order to provide a state-of-the-art update on a specialized area of family science. The ultimate goal of the journal is to become the leading international outlet for reporting research on the family in order to create a world-wide platform for researchers that can facilitate a better understanding of the diversity of the family in all its forms and to contribute to the knowledge base that informs intervention programs and social policies at national and international levels. Thus, the journal will have wide appeal to Family Scientists, Practitioners, and Policy Specialists.
Topics that the journal will address include:
• family processes and transitions
• marital and family intervention studies
• family-focused prevention programs
• family violence and abuse
• the family in relation to other systems (school, work, culture)
• assessment, methodological and statistical advances
• family policy
