Aims & Scope

Astropolitics: The International Journal of Space Politics and Policy is a peer-reviewed academic journal that provides original and incisive commentary on space politics and policy. The journal is dedicated to policy relevant to and interdisciplinary analysis of civil, commercial, military, and intelligence space activities. Committed to the highest editorial standards, Astropolitics is the international journal of choice for the academic, policy-maker, and professional in the space community.

Astropolitics seeks contributions from writers and experts in the field of space policy and related disciplines that include, among others: anthropology, business, economics, environmental studies, future studies, history, international studies, law, management, philosophy, political science, psychology, public administration, public policy, science and technology studies, sociology, space studies and strategic studies.

  • Policy developments and political histories in the civil, commercial, military, and intelligence space sectors.
  • Political processes and evolution of space policy.

  • International space cooperation in civil, commercial, and military areas of space activities.
  • Policy issues related to Earth observations, orbital debris, and planetary protection and defense.
  • Politics and policy regarding scientific uses of space and human exploration of space.
  • Politics and policy of foreign (non-United States) and developing space programs.
  • Military space power, doctrines, and mission areas.
  • Weaponization of space.
  • Intelligence space activities and developments.
  • Future space activities such as mining, property rights, space tourism, and settlement and governance.
