Aims & Scope
Totalitarian Movements and Political Religions provides a forum to explore the relationship between religion and politics in the widest sense. The journal looks at:
- the interaction between contemporary religion and politics
- the impact of religious fundamentalism on public policy, political attitudes, and political decision-making at all levels, in the USA and across the world
- conflicts between the secular and the religious
- publicly enforced religion and dissent
- secular and 'totalising' movements, such as: communism, fascism, and Ba'athist movements
Totalitarian Movements and Political Religion focuses on original scholarship demonstrating a sophisticated awareness of the methodological issues raised by such topics. This includes mapping common areas between different subject areas, revising conventional definitions of key terms such as 'totalitarian movement' and 'political religion' and applying non-Eurocentric perspectives to key political and historical events. This peer-reviewed journal is multidisciplinary and international in scope.
