Aims & Scope
New Labor Forum fosters a dialogue between organized labor and its campus and community-based allies. It examines labor's past, assesses its contemporary challenges and recommends agendas and strategies for the future. The journal is dedicated to providing cutting-edge analysis, candid debate, and new ideas on a broad range of issues vital to advancing a more democratic and just society. Issues recently explored include the following:
- Are the current union structures adequate to the task of organizing large numbers of non-union workers?
- Is labor's marriage to the Democratic Party dysfunctional?
- What must labor do to become a people?
- What must labor understand about workers' racial, gender, and sexual identity?
- Will labor and its allies rise to the challenges wrought by globalization?
- Why does McCarthy's ghost still haunt the labor movement?
- What are the concerns that trouble -- and the causes that inspire -- young workers and youth activists?
