The South Asian Association of Australia represents scholars whose interests are in the South Asian region. It is not strictly focussed, either geographically or by discipline. Generally, it covers countries such as India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal and the Himalayan states but the diasporic nature of south Asian cultures and the supra-national influences on the region mean that the interests of scholars may extend well beyond the borders of these states. South Asia is generously supported by the Monash Asia Institute, Monash University, Australia, and the University of New South Wales, Australia.
