Sport in Society cover The International Journal of the History of Sport cover

Sport in Society and The International Journal of the History of Sport hosted the ICC Centenary History Conference.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) Centenary History Conference was held at the University of Oxford on 22 - 23 July 2009. St Antony’s College and St John’s College hosted the event.

This fantastic celebration of cricket brought together former ICC presidents, former and current players, historians of the game, prominent commentators and distinguished academics. The conference looked back at the last 100 years of cricket and, through discussion, celebrated the sport its players and its development.

Routledge was one of the proud sponsors of this event and showcased much of its sport and leisure publishing, including books and special journal issues focusing on cricket.

Highlights of the conference include discussions and talks from ICC President David Morgan, Chief Executive Haroon Lorgat, cricketer Sourav Ganguly, former cricketing greats Clive Lloyd, Bishan Singh Bedi, Angus Fraser and Bob Willis. There was also a delightful discussion between England Women’s cricketer Ebony Rainford-Brent, England Women’s captain Charlotte Edwards and former England captain Rachael Heyhoe-Flint, chaired by Kath Woodward.

A very special thanks goes to Boria Majumdar for his superb organisational skills before and throughout the conference.

Please look through the various photographs and reports from the ICC centenary history conference and, if you have anything to add, please contact Zita Balogh: zita.balogh@tandf.co.uk.
