Journal of Location Based Services
Special Issue on NeoGeography

Journal of Location Based Services
This special issue on NeoGeography is one of our latest issues from the Journal of Location Based Services. The only such compilation so far in recent years, this issue brings together proposals, critique and implementations of the recently emerged and actively debated topic of NeoGeography. The readers would read about the reasons and examples of implementations that make the topic of NeoGeography so attractive to both the general masses and experienced academic geographers.

Authors in this issue include renowned senior academic geographer Michael Goodchild, and younger generation of NeoGeography researchers such as Andy Smith, Marcus Froth and others who are pushing and testing the boundaries of the topic. The Guest Editors of this issue, Sanjay Rana and Thierry Joliveau provide a review of the origin of the term NeoGeography and discuss what makes the topic of NeoGeography unique, subtle, and worthwhile. The papers presented in this special issue are divided into two main streams, one dealing with the history and integrity of the topics, and the other with ideas and results of the experiments that add to the research on these topics.
