International contributions from educationists sharing perspectives on Asian Teacher Education are often missing from contemporary debate because of linguistic reasons.
This Special Issue of Journal of Education for Teaching (JET) aims to correct that omission. It presents contributions from, amongst others, researchers in Japan, the People’s Republic of China and Korea. They examine the situation teacher education finds itself in within their own countries and also, for example, in Vietnam.
As a consequence, this issue of JET represents an important contribution to the comparative study of teacher education in the first decade of the twenty-first century, giving a platform to an important element of the international community of teacher educators.
