Journal of Beliefs & Values
Special Issue: The International Congregational Life Survey
Volume 27, Issue 1, 2006
This issue of Journal of Beliefs and Values is devoted to the International Congregational Life Survey. This survey took place in 2001 in congregations in four countries: Australia, New Zealand, England and the United States. Over 12,000 congregations took part and over 1.2 million completed questionnaires were returned. The coordination and cooperation necessary for the success of this project was impressive. This survey provides a unique opportunity to explore such questions as: who goes to church? What keeps people engaged with churches? Why do churches grow? Why do Churches decline?
