Planning Perspectives is an international peer-reviewed journal of history, planning and the built environment. It is affiliated to the International Planning History Society, an interdisciplinary organisation that promotes the study of urban planning history across the globe. Planning Perspectives offers a forum for scholars working in a wide range of disciplines interested in an historical approach to cities, places and people and for discussions between academics and practitioners on the history of urban planning.

Anthony Sutcliffe 1942–2011
Anthony Sutcliffe, after a long illness, has died on Monday 5th December 2011. He played a leading role in the development of planning history in Britain and internationally. Together with Gordon Cherry, he founded the Planning History Group in the UK and its journal, Planning History. They were then founding editors of Planning Perspectives and the International Planning History Society. He was with Gordon, co-founder of the Planning, History and Environment series. A full obituary will appear in Planning Perspectives 27, 2, 2012.
