Inquiry is an Interdisciplinary Journal of Philosophy. Founded by Arne Næss in 1958, Inquiry has come to occupy a distinctive and highly valued place amongst the philosophical journals. Inquiry is a refereed journal, publishing in all areas of philosophy. It has made its most distinctive mark in fostering exchange across the various internal boundaries and barriers that characterized philosophy over the past century. It has been a significant force in breaking down the distinction between so-called "analytic" and "continental" philosophy; it seeks to connect the history of philosophy with its current practice; it has been a venue for cross-fertilization between philosophy and the social sciences; and it seeks connections between fundamental philosophical issues and contemporary cultural developments.
Inquiry publishes research articles, symposia, special issues, target articles, review essays, art reviews and critical discussions. Under the leadership of a distinguished international editorial board, the journal has created a forum presenting a wide range of material of the highest standard from philosophers across the world, reflecting the best thinking from a variety of philosophical perspectives, in a way that is accessible to all.
