Aims & Scope

free political science articles

9/11 Collection - free access

The Journal of Transatlantic Studies is multi- and inter-disciplinary, embracing:

  • History, International Relations and Security Studies
  • Literature and Culture
  • Comparative Politics and Constitutionalism
  • Economic and Business History, Planning, and the Environment
  • Area Studies, Transmission of Ideas and Migration
Standard issues attempt to strike a balance between the disciplines, though History, IR and Security Studies articles tend to predominate. Themed issues are also published on topics such as the impact of 9/11, the Anglo-American relationship, NATO's contemporary challenges, Canada and New Transatlanticisms: Africa and the Americas.

Broadly speaking the journal will contain articles on the topic of Europe, including Russia, and west coastal Africa and their interactions with North, South, and Central America and the Caribbean. While the majority of articles tend to be on North American relations with Europe, editorial policy will look to include articles that take in the broader transatlantic area.

It is envisaged that most contributions will be about post 1945 or contemporary affairs, but articles covering any period of transatlantic relations would be welcomed providing that they have some contemporary resonance.
