ADVISORY EDITORIAL BOARD

The Journal of Muslim Minority Affairs is a biannual research journal produced by the Institute of Muslim Minority Affairs. First published in 1979, the journal has firmly established itself as a highly respected and widely acclaimed academic and scholarly publication providing accurate, reliable and unbiased information.

The only scholarly journal studying Muslim commmunities in non-Muslim societies, the Journal of Muslim Minority Affairs provides a wealth of information on Muslim communities in contemporary society that cannot be found anywhere else in documented form. The Institue has helped open up a new area of specialisation with articles addressing the minority condition from a historic, demographic, social and economic perspective as well as examining the abstract and conceptual aspects that define and explain the minority situation.

The sole purpose of the Journal of Muslim Minority Affairs is to provide a forum for a frank but responsible discussion of issues relating to the life of Muslims in non-Muslim societies. It has become increasingly influential with the subject of Muslim minorities now acquiring added significance and urgency. Most of the hotspots in the world today involve a Muslim community in oneor both adversarial positions. Added to this senario is the rising tide of religious and political extremism that seems to emerge mainly among marginalised minority groups. Thus the study of minority experience is of crucial significance in understanding all forms of racial and ethnic violence often leading to national instability and international tension. The study of the causes and consequences of these events and developments is vital.
