Sponsored by Carfax Publishing Limited, the prize is offered to encourage writing which articulates perspectives that are not usually included within the parameters of 'western' feminisms. Authors, editors and referees are therefore asked to look beyond the concerns often seen as central to academic publishing.

The maximum length for contributions is 5,000 words. Submissions for the competition should be sent to: CARFAX COMPETITION, Jenny Hockey, Journal of Gender Studies, CASS, University of Hull, HU6 7RX, UK.
