The Journal of Education and Work is a major international forum for academic research and policy analysis which focuses on the interplay of the education and economic systems.

In the education system, attention is given to how knowledge, skills, values and attitudes both about, and for, work and employment are developed. The entire age range is covered; from pre- school to university. In the economic system the focus is on those aspects which have a direct bearing on education and training. This includes various forms of industrial training and their accreditation, as well as changes in the economic and industrial infrastructure which have an influence on the types of employees required. Work in the informal economy is also included.

The journal has a particular interest in the transition from education to employment; how this process is structured and managed, and its effects on the main actors involved - young people, schools, colleges, universities and employers. The operation of the labour market, particularly the youth labour market also provides a focus.

Published papers are often interdisciplinary in nature, reflecting the multifaceted nature of the journal’s concerns. Articles are welcome from economists, psychologists, sociologists, educationalists and policy analysts. The journal will publish case studies from practitioners if they present innovation grounded in relevant literature and debate.
