The Journal of Applied Management Studies provides a forum for debate and discussion across a wide range of issues facing the management community world wide in a host of different functional, sectoral, national and cultural settings. It aims to improve and enhance management practice through the transfer of recent developments and ideas in management theory and research into such practice. Consequently, it will be a vehicle to promote the sharing of knowledge and understanding between the academic and practitioner communities. While the Journal of Applied Management Studies is open to, and actively encourages contributions from, all segments of the management community, the editors are keen to attract contributions from academics and practitioners who are at the beginning of their publishing careers, particularly if they are researching or working in areas at the forefront of current management debates. Our policy is to adopt an eclectic and multidisciplinary view of papers to be sought and accepted for publication but the following broad themes and subject areas are where our main emphasis lies:
cross-cultural/transnational management issues such as the transfer of western management methods into Asia and Eastern Europe;
recent developments in management and organisational behaviour and learning;
developments in management theory and research, their transfer into management practice and evaluations of their impact on practice;
information management, technological innovations and strategic information systems planning particularly in the public sector and non profit organisations;
current issues in the management and development of human resources;
innovations and changes in financial management and business economics practices;
competition and sustainable competitive advantage, business transformation projects;
developments on corporate governance and strategic management, changing structures and processes;
specific developments and current issues in public sector management;
case studies focusing on change and innovations in management practices.
The Journal will include scholarly peer reviewed papers, shorter more controversial/informative debates, work in progress reports and analyses reviewed by the editors, letters and responses to papers, news and reviews.
