EDITORIAL BOARD AND
INTERNATIONAL ADVISORY BOARD

The main challenge faced by European social sciences at a time of rapid societal transformations is undoubtedly that of combining critical analytical thought with integrative pragmatic thinking, while also bridging gaps between disciplines and sub-disciplines on a cross-national basis. Related to this, there is a necessity to establish European fora for exchanging views and research experience on interrelated topics of interest to and significance for the social sciences. This objective is successfully met by the international research journal Innovation: The European Journal of Social Sciences, the official journal of the European Association for the Advancement of Social Sciences and The Interdisciplinary Centre for Comparative Research in the Social Sciences(ICCR).

Innovation: The European Journal of Social Sciences covers issues in the following thematic areas:

  • The socio-political, economic and cultural implications of the process of European integration
  • Aspects of the process of transformation in Central and Eastern Europe following the breakdown of communism
  • Migration and multiculturalism, including topics related to nationalism and multi-ethnic societies more generally
  • Applied social and urban policy, including lifestyle- and health-related research
  • Communication and the making of culture, including the role of the media as well as the social impact of advanced communication technologies
  • The role of technology, research and development in societal transformation, the environment and the restructuring of the economic sector

Innovation is published quarterly with regular thematic issues. It covers issues in the following thematic areas: the socio-political, economic and cultural implications of the process of European integration; aspects of the process of transformation in Central and Eastern Europe following the breakdown of communism; migration and multiculturalism; applied social and urban policy; communication and the making of culture; and the role of technology, research and development in societal transformation.
