CORE (Collected Original Resources in Education) has firmly established itself as a prime source of original educational research from throughout the world, enabling research workers to study the full reports of major centres of learning, government agencies and privately-sponsored groups. A typical issue of CORE consists of about 115 standard archival-quality, 98-image 24x microfiche, contained in pockets inside a normal journal cover, which also provides eye-legible contents and abstracts. The constraints imposed by conventional journal publication no longer apply here as the format of the journal facilitates the presentation of research material which could not be published in one volume by conventional means because of its sheer size or complexity. The journal has two additional novel features: copyright in the material in CORE extends only to the microform, thus allowing authors to immediately deposit their full report and yet still be free to publish all or part of their material elsewhere by conventional methods; the publishers allow unlimited copying of material from CORE provided those copies are not offered for sale.
