Human Resource Development International promotes all aspects of practice and research that explore issues of individual, group and organisational learning and performance, wherever they might be located. In adopting this perspective, Human Resource Development International is committed itself to questioning the divide between practice and theory; between the 'practitioner' and the 'academic'; between traditional and experimental methodological approaches; and between organizational demands and the demands of scholarship. Peer-Reviewed Articles
High quality papers for double-blind peer review. These should total no more than 8,000 words. Author information should be on a separate sheet. Not Peer-Reviewed Perspectives on Practice
High-quality articles about advanced practice - 3,000 - 4,000 words.
Perspectives on Research
Reports of research-in-progress and innovative development projects - 3,000 - 4,000 words.
Perspectives on People
Interviews with researchers or practitioners which provide a perspective on the individual's contribution to the field, in retrospect, progress, or prospect - 3,000 - 4,000 words.
Debate
A position paper that takes a challenging stance on an issue relating to HRD - 3,000 - 4,000 words. Reviews
Book, video, conference and software reviews - 1,000 - 1,500 words; review articles - covering several related books - 3,000 - 4,000 words.
Submission of Manuscripts
Authors should submit an electronic copy to K. Peter Kuchinke, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, 355 Education, 1310 S. Sixth Street, Champaign, IL61820, USA (E-mail: hrdi@ed.uiuc.edu). Please indicate whether your submission is for the refereed section or non-refereed section.
Submissions should be in English and typed in double-spacing (including all notes and references); Footnotes should be avoided; any notes which do not fit within the body of the text should be placed immediately before the reference list. An abstract of up to 150 words and up to six keywords for the journal's abstracting services should accompany all refereed papers. Permission to quote from or reproduce copyright material must be obtained before submission; general acknowledgements should be provided immediately before the Notes section; acknowledgement of figures or photographs (source and copyright) should however be placed under the individual caption. Submissions should be accompanied by a separate sheet giving a brief autobiographical note for each author, together with full postal and e-mail addresses, telephone and fax numbers. Email submissions are preferred. Submission of a manuscript to HRDI will be taken to imply that it presents original, unpublished work not under consideration elsewhere. By submitting a manuscript, authors agree that the exclusive rights to reproduce and distribute the article have been given to the Publishers. Tables, figures and plates should not be inserted within the pages of the manuscript, but should be submitted on separate sheets attached to the article.
Tables should be prepared with the minimum use of horizontal rules (usually three are sufficient) and avoiding vertical rules. It is important to provide clear copy of figures (not photocopies or faxes) which can be reproduced by the printer and do not require redrawing. Photographs should be high-contrast black and white glossy prints. The desired position in the text for each table, figure and plate should be indicated in the margin of the manuscript. All captions for figures and plates (including source and acknowledgements) should be listed on a separate sheet. Style guidelines
