Aims and Scope

Research in Sports Medicine
is a broad journal that aims to bridge the gap between all professionals in the fields of sports medicine. The journal serves an international audience and is of interest to professionals worldwide. The journal covers major aspects of sports medicine and sports science - prevention, management, and rehabilitation of sports, exercise and physical activity related injuries, and occupational problems. The journal publishes original research utilizing a wide range of techniques and approaches, reviews, commentaries and short communications.

Submission of Manuscripts

Authors are strongly encouraged to submit manuscripts through email to rsm.journal@gmail.com. Each manuscript must be accompanied by a statement that it has not been published elsewhere and that it has not been submitted simultaneously for publication elsewhere. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted material from other sources
and are required to sign an agreement transferring the copyright to the publisher. All accepted manu-scripts, artwork, and photographs become the property of the publisher. Authors are asked to submit with the manuscript the names, mailing addresses, and e-mail addresses of three individuals that would be suitable independent reviewers.

All parts of the manuscript should be typewritten, double-spaced, and with margins of at least one inch on all sides. The preferred maximum length is 23 units for original research and 23 units for review articles where a unit is one typewriting page, one figure/table or the title page. The title page includes the title, full name and affiliation of all authors, shortened title (not exceeding 50 character spaces), correspondence of the corresponding author including name, postal and email address, telephone and fax number, and acknowledgement, if any.

Submit the title page in a separate file. The other file includes the title, abstract of no more than 150 words in descriptive format, three to five keywords, and other regular sections of the article such as introduction,  methods, results, discussion, conclusion, and reference etc. Number all pages and label the line number starting from the title. The title should be capitalized in the first letter of each word.

References

Cite references within the text based on the name-year system of CBE style, e.g., either “In their article, Smith and Jones (1981) discuss...” or “It has been shown (Smith and Jones 1981).” Use et al. when the number of authors is more than 3. The full list of references should be collected at the end of the paper in alphabetical order. Examples:

Draper NR, Smith H (1981) Applied Regression Analysis (2nd Edition). New York: John Wiley. p. 15–20.
Manton KG, Stallard E, Vaupel J (1981) Methods for comparing the mortality experience of hetero-geneous populations. Demography 18(3): 389–410.

Footnotes

Use sparingly if at all. Any note of acknowledgment or author identification will appear on the opening page of the paper as a footnote.

Tables and Figures

Tables and figures should not be embedded in the text, but should be included as separate sheets or files. A short descriptive title should appear above each table with a clear legend, and any footnotes suitably identified below. All units must be included. Figures should be completely labelled and captions should be typed, double-spaced, on a separate sheet. All original figures should be clearly marked in pencil on the reverse side with the number, author's name, and top edge indicated.

Illustrations

Illustrations submitted (line drawings, halftones, photos, photomicrographs, etc.) should be clean originals or digital files. Digital files are recommended for highest quality reproduction and should follow these guidelines: 300 dpi or higher; sized to fit on journal page; EPS, TIFF, or PSD format only; and submitted as separate files, not embedded in text files. Color illustrations will be considered for publication; however, the author will be required to bear the full cost involved in their printing and publication. The charge for the first page with color is $900.00. The next three pages with color are $450.00 each. A custom quote will be provided for color art totaling more than 4 journal pages. Good-quality color prints or files should be provided in their final size. The publisher has the right to refuse publication of color prints deemed unacceptable.

Reprints

Each corresponding author of the article will receive 3 complimentary copies of the issue in which the article appears. Reprints of individual articles are available for order at the time authors review page proofs. A discount on reprints is available to authors who order before print publication.
