Instructions for Authors

***Note to Authors: please make sure your contact address information is clearly visible on the outside of all packages you are sending to Editors.***

Manuscripts  should be sent as an email attachment to: Hayley.McCalla@nottingham.ac.uk . Alternatively two copies on disk or CD Rom can be sent to Hayley McCalla, School of Education, The University of Nottingham, Jubilee Campus, Wollaton Road, Nottingham, NG8 1BB, UK. Manuscripts should normally be between 4,000-6,000 words in length. UK English is the preferred spelling.

Books for review should be addressed to Elaine Munthe, University of Stavanger, Center for Behavioral Research, 4036 Stavanger, Norway

Articles should be typed on one side of the paper, double spaced, with ample margins, and bear the title of the contribution. In order to guarantee blind review the name(s) of the author(s) and the address where the work was carried out should only appear on a separate first page. Each article should be accompanied by a structured abstract of 100-500 words, with 4-5 keywords, selected from either ERIC or BEI referencing also on a separate sheet.

The structured abstract should consist of:

(i) Background - what makes the research different and of interest to others
(ii) Aim - its purpose
(iii) Methods - how you have carried out your inquiry and why the means you have used were fit for purpose
(iv) Outcomes - what learning resulted from your work, for yourself and others
(v) Conclusions - what implications this might have for others

These should be woven into your abstract rather than being discrete headings in themselves. We intend that the abstract and keywords will enable readers to search for and access relevant articles more easily.

Papers are only accepted for review on the basis that they are not being submitted elsewhere for publication.

Rejected manuscripts will not be returned unless sufficient stamps/international postal coupons have been sent.

Tables and captions to illustrations. Tables must be typed out on separate sheets and not included as part of the text. The captions to illustrations should be gathered together and also typed out on a separate sheet. Tables and figures should be numbered using Arabic numerals. The approximate position of tables and figures should be indicated in the manuscript. Captions should include keys to symbols.

Figures. Please supply one set of artwork in a finished form, suitable for reproduction. Figures will not normally be redrawn by the publisher.
