Instructions for AuthorsHealth, Risk & Society welcomes original contributions from all parts of the world on the understanding that their contents have not previously been published nor submitted elsewhere for publication. It is a condition of acceptance that papers become the copyright of the publisher. Authors are themselves responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyright material from other sources. All submissions should be made online at Health Risk & Society's ScholarOne Manuscripts site. New users should first create an account. Once a user is logged onto the site submissions should be made via the Author Centre. Papers should be double spaced throughout (including the references), with margins of at least 2.5 cm (1 inch). The first page should include the title of the paper, first name, middle initial(s) and last name of the author(s), and for each author a short institutional address, and an abbreviated title (for running headlines within the article). At the bottom of the page give the full name and address (including telephone numbers and e-mail address if possible) of the author to whom all correspondence (including proofs) should be sent. The second page should repeat the title and contain an abstract of not more than 250 words. The third page should repeat the title as a heading to the main body of the text. Long articles may need subheadings within some sections to clarify their content. Within the text section headings and subheadings should be typed on a separate line without numbering, indentation or bold or italic typeface. Foreign language words or phrases should be in italics with appropriate explanatory footnotes.

Tables and figures should be completely understandable independent of the text. Tables must be typed on separate sheets and not included as part of the text. The captions to illustrations should be gathered together and typed on a separate sheet. Tables and figures should be numbered by Arabic numerals. The approximate position of tables and figures should be indicated in the manuscript. Please supply clear copies of artwork for figures in a finished form suitable for reproduction. Figures will not normally be redrawn by the publisher. Photographs should be unmounted, high-contrast glossy prints, with as much contrast as the subject allows. Proofs will be sent by fax or air mail to the author nominated for correspondence. Proofs are supplied for checking and making essential typographical corrections, not for general revision or alteration. Proofs must be returned within 72 hours of receipt. Neither the Editors nor the Publishers shall be responsible for any errors. Free article access: Corresponding authors will receive free online access to their article through our website (www.informaworld.com) and a complimentary copy of the issue containing their article. Reprints of articles published in this journal can be purchased through Rightslink® when proofs are received. All authors should ensure that any ethical issues related to the study should be explored and satisfactorily dealt with in their submission or in a covering letter if additional explanation is required. The Journal accepts the ethical guidelines of the Social Research Association and expects authors to be aware of these guidelines and to discharge their obligations as outlined in the guidelines to society, to funders and employers, to colleagues and subjects involved in their research. Authors should read the SRA guidelines which are available here and will not be able to submit their article until they have indicated that they have done so. In the covering letter the author(s) should indicate that they followed the SRA guidelines. If they are unable to do so they should explain why they were not able to do so.
