Instructions for Authors

Aims and Scope

International Journal of Green Nanotechnology is a unique, three-part journal focusing on the important challenges and latest advances in the chemistry, physics, biology, engineering, and other scientific aspects of green nanotechnology as well as on their societal impact and the policies that have been or should be developed to address them. This journal comprises three parts:

  • International Journal of Green Nanotechnology: Physics and Chemistry: Articles present work in chemistry and physics toward green nanoparticle production, characterization, and their properties—all leading to green nanotechnology development. These original articles and reviews present new green-nanotechnological processes for the production of well-known nanoparticulate constructs that are in some cases already in use.
  • International Journal of Green Nanotechnology: Biomedicine: Articles address biocompatibility and nanomedical applications of green nanotechnologies, including the development of new medical diagnostic and therapeutic agents and biological sensors.
  • International Journal of Green Nanotechnology: Materials Science and Engineering: Articles explore the engineering challenges of green-nanotechnological processes and applications, including the design and development of chemical sensors, smart electronic materials, nanoscale robots, and medical devices.

In addition, the journalspublish articles and commentaries on the societal impacts of green nanotechnologies, including socioeconomic and regulatory impacts, and perceptions of these among academics, policymakers, corporate decision makers, and the public.

Preparing Manuscripts

All manuscripts must be in English. The main words in the title should be capitalized, but not underlined. Only the first letters should be capitalized of the authors' names and affiliations. Corresponding authors should be designated with an asterisk. Use “and” instead of “&” throughout the paper, unless the “&” is part of a company name. Subdivide text into the following parts: Abstract, Introduction, Results and Discussion, Experimental, References, Acknowledgement.

Throughout the paper, use chemical abstract names for the compounds prepared. Reference citations should be in parentheses. Give the justification for the work in the introduction, and define acronyms of ligands and their structure names in figures. Results and Discussion: First discuss the preparation of the compounds described in the manuscript. Give presentative equations for the corresponding synthesis reactions. Use subheadings for discussions of IR, NMR, UV, etc. Do not use spaces between element and oxidation state. Cite in text all figures and tables and number in ascending order in the order of appearance. Experimental: Give amounts of all reactants in g and mmols and amounts of all solvents in mL. Give details of product isolation and purification. Give yields in g and %.

All parts of the manuscript should be typewritten, double-spaced, with margins of at least one inch on all sides. Number manuscript pages consecutively throughout the paper. Authors should also supply a shortened version of the title suitable for the running head, not exceeding 50 character spaces. Each article should be summarized in an abstract of not more than 100 words. Avoid abbreviations, diagrams, and references to the text in the abstract. Manuscripts, including figures, tables, and references, must conform to the specifications described in the American Chemical Society (ACS) Style Guide.

Submission of Manuscripts

Authors must identify to which of the three journals they are submitting:

  • International Journal of Green Nanotechnology: Physics and Chemistry
  • International Journal of Green Nanotechnology: Materials Science & Engineering
  • International Journal of Green Nanotechnology: Biomedicine

Manuscripts should be submitted by e-mail to Dr. Kattesh V. Katti, Executive Editor, International Journal of Green Nanotechnology, at KattiK@health.missouri.edu.

Each manuscript must be accompanied by a statement that it has not been published elsewhere and that it has not been submitted simultaneously for publication elsewhere. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted material from other sources and are required to sign an agreement for the transfer of copyright to the publisher. All accepted manuscripts, artwork, and photographs become the property of the publisher.

Illustrations

Illustrations submitted (line drawings, halftones, photos, photomicrographs, etc.) should be clean originals or digital files. Digital files are recommended for highest quality reproduction and should follow these guidelines:

  • 300 dpi or higher
  • sized to fit on journal page
  • EPS, TIFF, or PSD format only
  • submitted as separate files, not embedded in text files

Color Reproduction.Color art will be reproduced in color in the online publication at no additional cost to the author. Color illustrations will also be considered for print publication; however, the author will be required to bear the full cost involved in color art reproduction. Please note that color reprints can only be ordered if print reproduction costs are paid. Rates for color art reproduction are:

Print: $900 for the first page of color; $450 for the next three pages of color. A custom quote will be provided for articles with more than 4 pages of color.

Tables and Figures

Tables and figures should not be embedded in the text, but should be included as separate sheets or files. A short descriptive title should appear above each table with a clear legend and any footnotes suitably identified below. All units must be included. Figures should be completely labeled, taking into account necessary size reduction. Captions should be typed, double-spaced, on a separate sheet. All original figures should be clearly marked in pencil on the reverse side with the number, author's name, and top edge indicated.

Reprints

The corresponding author of each paper will receive a complimentary PDF of the paper. Reprints of the paper may be purchased from the publisher. An offprint order form is supplied at the proofs stage. If you wish to order offprints, complete the form and return it to the publisher by the date specified.
