Instructions for Authors
Submission of Manuscripts
Authors are strongly encouraged to submit manuscripts electronically. Manuscripts should be e-mailed to the Editor-in-Chief:
Haiyan Song, PhD
hmsong@polyu.edu.hk
Expect approximately eight weeks to receive feedback from two to three reviewers.
Each manuscript must be accompanied by a statement that it has not been published elsewhere and that it has not been submitted simultaneously for publication elsewhere. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted material from other sources and are required to sign an agreement for the transfer of copyright to the publisher. All accepted manuscripts, artwork, and photographs become the property of the publisher.
All parts of the manuscript should be typewritten, double-spaced, with 12-point font margins. Number manuscript pages consecutively throughout the paper. Full research papers should be 15-30 pages; research notes should be half of the length of the full research papers. Submit a cover page with the manuscript, indicating only the article title (this is used for anonymous refereeing). Include a regular title page as a separate document as well, which includes full authorship, an ABSTRACT of about 100 words (Avoid abbreviations, diagrams, and reference to the text in the abstract), 3-10 key words for indexing purposes, and an introductory note with authors' academic degrees, professional titles, affiliations, mailing and e-mail addresses, and any desired acknowledgement of research support or other credit.
References
References, citations, and general style of manuscripts should be prepared in accordance with the APA Publication Manual, 5th ed. Cite in the text by author and date (Smith, 1983) and include an alphabetical list at the end of the article. Examples:
Journal: Tsai, M., & Wagner, N. N. (1978). Therapy groups for women sexually molested as children. Archives of Sexual Behaviour, 7(6), 417-427.
Book: Millman, M. (1980). Such a pretty face. New York: W. W. Norton.
Contribution to a Book: Hartley, J. T., & Walsh, D. A. (1980). Contemporary issues in adult development of learning. In L. W. Poon (Ed.), Aging in the 1980s (pp. 239-252). Washington, DC: American Psychological Association.

Color Illustrations
Tables and Figures
Tables and figures (illustrations) should not be embedded in the text, but should be included as separate sheets or files. A short descriptive title should appear above each table with a clear legend and any footnotes suitably identified below. All units must be included. Figures should be completely labeled, taking into account necessary size reduction. Captions should be typed, double-spaced, on a separate sheet.
Alterations Required by Referees and Reviewers. Many times a paper is accepted by the editor contingent upon changes that are mandated by anonymous specialist referees and/or members of the editorial board. If the editor returns your manuscript for revisions, you are responsible for retyping any sections of the paper to incorporate these revisions (if applicable, revisions should also be put on disk).
Proofs
Page proofs are sent to the designated author using Taylor & Francis' Central Article Tracking System (CATS). They must be carefully checked and returned within 48 hours of receipt.
