Instructions for Authors

Manuscripts to be considered for publication should be sent electronically to Dr. Warren Buckland (e-mail: wbuckland@brookes.ac.uk).

The language of publication is English. Papers should be written for an international audience, adopting a straightforward writing style, and avoiding over-long or complex sentence structures. The title of the paper should be informative. The name, designation, affiliation, and postal address of each author should be given in full, including an e-mail address and a fax number, where either or both of these exist. An abstract of no more than 200 words outlining the scope of the paper and its main results or conclusions should precede the main text. The text should be typed with 1.5 or double-spacing, and be no longer than 9,000 words (excluding references), with numbered pages. Do not submit your paper single-spaced. Two copies of the paper should be submitted, together with an identical electronic version. The document should be submitted in Word. No substantial changes in content can be made to the paper after acceptance; the author(s) should therefore ensure that the final version of their paper is definitive.

All acronyms or abbreviations should be spelt out in full when first used in the text.

End Notes. Notes should be used rarely, if at all, and only to present information that the reader needs to know and that cannot be incorporated in the main text. Indicate notes with superscript numbers, and provide the note text as a list at the end of the article before the references.

Images. In addition to a full version of the paper showing text and graphics integrated, a separate copy of each graphic (figures, tables and illustrations) is required on disk and in a printed version. On the disk version, name each graphic file with the first author's surname (abbreviated if necessary), the number of the figure, and an extension indicating the file format. For example: anderson.fig3.tiff, or spencer.fig6.jpeg. Only commonly used graphic formats should be used, and preferably TIFF. The printed version of each graphic is required for scanning (in case this may be necessary), and should therefore be of high quality. Important: Graphics should be clear and of good quality, and limited in number to that which is necessary to convey the meaning of the paper.

Clearing Permissions. Author must ensure that permission to reproduce copyright material in their papers, such as illustrations/stills, has been obtained from the relevant copyright holders; authors will be solely responsible for the payment of any copyright fees which may be imposed by the copyright holder. In all cases, permission should be obtained in writing, and copies sent to the Editor with the final version of the paper.

Copyright. It is a condition of publication that authors assign copyright or license the publication rights in their articles, including abstracts, to Taylor & Francis. This enables us to ensure full copyright protection and to disseminate the article, and of course the Journal, to the widest possible readership in print and electronic formats as appropriate. Authors may, of course, use the article elsewhere after publication without prior permission from Taylor & Francis, provided that acknowledgement is given to the Journal as original source of publication, and that Taylor & Francis is notified so that our records show that its use is properly authorised. Authors retain a number of other rights under the Taylor & Francis rights policies documents. These policies are referred to at http://www.tandf.co.uk/journals/authorrights.pdf for full details. Authors are themselves responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyright material from other sources.

Free article access: Corresponding authors will receive free online access to their article through our website (www.informaworld.com) and a complimentary copy of the issue containing their article. Reprints of articles published in this journal can be purchased through Rightslink® when proofs are received. If you have any queries, please contact our reprints department at reprints@tandf.co.uk

***Note to Authors: please make sure your contact address information is clearly visible on the outside of all packages you are sending to Editors.***
