Aims and Scope:

Leadership and Policy in Schools aims to provide a high-quality forum for educational researchers, practitioners and policymakers to publish analyses and research about how school leaders and educational policies utilize fiscal, material, and human resources to bring about change in education and effectiveness in schools.

The scope of the journal will encompass studies about leadership and policy in primary and secondary education, as well in tertiary education, where appropriate. Studies that utilize the school-site as their primary unit of analysis are of particular interest. Such studies will include schools from diverse contexts in both the public and private sectors.

The editors welcome manuscripts from diverse disciplinary perspectives including economic, political, historical, demographic and financial analyses. In addition, to original research papers, we intend to eventually include other types of features such as literature reviews, book reviews, meeting and conference reports and dialogues.

Each manuscript must be accompanied by a statement that it has not been published elsewhere and that it has not been submitted simultaneously for publication elsewhere. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted material from other sources and are required to sign an agreement for the transfer of copyright to the publisher. All accepted manuscripts, artwork, and photographs become the property of the publisher.

All parts of the manuscript should be typewritten, double-spaced, with margins of at least one inch on all sides.

Authors should also supply a shortened version of the title suitable for the running head, not exceeding 50 character spaces. Each article should be summarized in an abstract of not more than 100 words. Avoid abbreviations, diagrams, and reference to the text in the abstract. The title page of each article should contain the following: title, authors' names and affiliations. Acknowledgements should be included at the end of the text, before the references.

References:

Cite in the text by author and date (Smith, 1983). Prepare reference list in accordance with the APA Publication Manual, 4th ed. Only references published in generally available journals or books will be accepted.

Illustrations:

Illustrations submitted (line drawings, halftones, photos, photomicrographs, etc.) must be submitted as digital files and should follow these guidelines:

• 300 dpi or higher
• Sized to fit on journal page
• EPS, TIFF, or PSD format only
• Submitted as separate files, not embedded in text files

Color illustrations will be considered for publication; however, the author will be required to bear the full cost involved in their printing and publication. The charge for the first page with color is $900.00. The next four pages with color are $450.00 each. An additional five to eight pages of color are $100.00 each. A custom quote will be provided for color art totaling more than eight journal pages. Good-quality color prints should be provided in their final size. The publisher has the right to refuse publication of color prints deemed unacceptable.

Tables and Figures:

Tables and figures (illustrations) should not be embedded in the text, but should be included as separate files. A short descriptive title should appear above each table with a clear legend and any footnotes suitably identified below. All units must be included. Captions should be typed, double-spaced, in a separate file.

Proofs:

Page proofs are sent to the designated author using Taylor & Francis' EProof system. They must be carefully checked and returned within 48 hours of receipt. Offprints or copies of the journal may be ordered at this stage through the publisher.

Reprints:

Each corresponding author will receive one copy of the issue in which the article appears. Reprints of individual articles are available for order at the time authors review page proofs. A discount on reprints is available to authors who order before print publication.
