Where appropriate also attach a separate title page which indicates (1) manuscript title, (2) full name and title of each author, (3) each contributor's address, telephone number, fax number, and e-mail address, and (4) the history of the manuscript (e.g., any previous public presentation or publication of any portion of the manuscript or data set; whether it is derived from a thesis or dissertation; any other pertinent information). The manuscript should include an abstract not to exceed 200 words. Manuscripts should conform to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 5th Edition (2001). Manuscripts also must conform to the guidelines for avoiding ethnic biases and sexist language. Manuscript will not be returned to authors.

Manuscripts should not be under consideration by another publication. International Journal of Construction Education and Research follows a policy of blind, peer review, and each manuscript typically is read by three reviewers with expertise in the study's subject matter, methodology, and theoretical perspective. All comments by reviewers are confidential and shall not be published. Based on recommendations of the reviewers, the editor will make the final judgment with regard to publication. Send submissions electronically to Dr. Brian Moore at ascjournal@georgiasouthern.edu.

Tables and Figures

Tables and figures should not be embedded in the text, but should be included as separate sheets or files. A short descriptive title should appear above each table with a clear legend and any footnotes suitably identified below. All units must be included. Figures should be completely labeled, taking into account necessary size reduction. Captions should be typed, double-spaced, on a separate sheet.

Illustrations

Illustrations submitted (line drawings, halftones, photos, photmicrographs, etc.) should be digital files. Digital files are recommended for the highest quality reproduction and should follow these guidelines:

  • 300 dpi or higher
  • sized to fit on journal page
  • EPS, TIFF, or PSD format only

Color illustrations will be considered for publication; however the author will be required to bear the full cost involved in printing and publication. The charge for the first page of color art is $900. The next three pages with color are $450 each. A custom quote will be provided for color art totaling more than 4 journal pages. Good-quality color prints or files should be provided in their final size. The publisher has the right to refuse publication of color prints deemed unacceptable.

References

Manuscripts must conform to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 5th Edition (2001). References should be indicated in the manuscript by giving the author's name, with the year of publication in parentheses, e. g. Jones (2004) or (Jones, 2004) as appropriate. If several publications are cited by the same author and from the same year, a, b, c, etc. should be put after the year of publication. All references cited in the text should be listed in full at the end of the paper. The use of lengthy explanatory footnotes should be kept to a minimum.

Proofs

Proofs will be sent to authors by e-mail. They should be corrected and returned to the production editor within three days. Major alterations to the text cannot be accepted.

Reprints

The corresponding author of each article will receive one complete copy of the issue in which the article appears. Reprints of an individual article may be ordered from Taylor & Francis by using the Rightslink link to the reprint order form included with the page proofs.

Aims and Scope

The International Journal of Construction Education and Research is the official journal of the Associated Schools of Construction. The goal of the journal is to recognize scholarly work by preserving and disseminating research articles that contribute to the understanding of issues and topics associated with construction education and the construction industry. The IJCER aims to attract not only manuscripts dealing with construction education and pedagogy, but also to publish high-quality research manuscripts addressing a wider range of topics related to the construction industry. The IJCER will include abstracts of articles, an editorial section, point-counterpoint invited papers, blind peer-reviewed papers, case studies, and book reviews. Originally launched in 1996 as the Journal of Construction Education, the IJCER was relaunched under its present title in 2004, and is introducing this new print verion with Volume 2, 2006.
