Aims & Scope

From its launching in 1984 through publication of its 20th volume in 2004, the Progress in Self Psychology book series has played a pivotal role in the rise of contemporary self psychology to a position of worldwide prominence. Beginning in 2006, the Progress series will give way to the International Journal of Psychoanalytic Self Psychology, the official journal of the International Association for Psychoanalytic Self Psychology. Like the Progress series, IJPSP will be a repository for the best original work growing out of the self-psychological tradition. Like the Progress series, it will attend to self psychology in its historical, developmental, clinical, theoretical, and applied dimensions. And, like recent volumes of the Progress series, it will be appreciative of the contributions of other major theoretical and clinical perspectives and will devote considerable space to exploring the relationships among psychoanalytic self psychology and other psychoanalytic viewpoints.
