Instructions for Authors

Please send all contributions as email attachments (doc or rtf format) to Atlantic-Studies@mesea.org. Articles should, in general, be approximately 7,000 words, written in English, double spaced (including all notes and references), and follow the Chicago Humanities style.

An abstract of the paper, of approximately 300 words, should accompany the article. In addition a list of up to 6 key words, suitable for indexing and abstracting services, should be supplied. A brief biographical sketch of the author should be provided on a separate sheet.

Reviews and review essays are solicited by the review editors. Reviews should be no longer than 1,000 words; review essays should be no longer than 7,000 words, following the same style instructions for main contributors. Please submit reviews or review essays to William Nelson <wnelson@mail.as.miami.edu> (history) or Jacob Berman <jberman@lsu.edu> (cultural studies, literature).

The author's email and full postal address must be supplied.

Submissions will be subjected to blind review before acceptance.

Submission of a paper to the journal will be taken to imply that it presents original, unpublished work not under consideration for publication elsewhere. By submitting a manuscript, the authors agree that the exclusive rights to reproduce and distribute the article have been given to the Publishers.

Authors are themselves responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce in both print and online format any copyright material used, and for the payment of any fees to do so. Authors must obtain permissions before submission and include any acknowledgements in the typescript. Where photographs or figures are reproduced, acknowledgement of source and copyright must be given in the caption.

Figures or photographs should not be embedded in the text but supplied as separate files, preferably TIFF or JPG, saved to a high resolution (300 dpi or more). The location of the image should be indicated in the text file.
