Instructions for Authors
Submission. Authors should submit manuscripts electronically in MS Word Format to the JS&T Editorial Office at JSAT@canterbury.ac.uk. If the manuscript contains any specially prepared artwork that cannot be submitted in Word format, then this should be submitted in an appropriate electronic format in a separate file to the above email address, with two accompanying hardcopies to be sent to Dr Mike Weed, Journal of Sport & Tourism, Department of Sport Science, Tourism & Leisure, Canterbury Christ Church University, North Holmes Road, Canterbury, Kent, CT1 1QU, United Kingdom.
All articles will be read by the Editor and an Associate Editor, and if deemed relevant and of a sufficient standard, they will be anonymously reviewed by at least two reviewers. Submission of a paper to JS&T will be taken to imply that it presents original, unpublished work, not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
Books for review should be sent to the Book Reviews Editor, Dr Liz Fredling at Sustainable Tourism CRC (STCRC), Griffith University, PMB50, GOLD COAST MC QLD 9726, Australia.
The manuscript. Submissions should be in English, typed in double spacing, with generous side margins, on one side of A4 or American standard size paper. Articles should not normally exceed 8000 words in length. An abstract of the paper, of no more than 250 words, should be incorporated in the first page of the article together with five or six key words, preferably words that do not already appear in the title of the article. A brief biographical note about each author should be supplied. Details should also be given of full postal and e-mail addresses, as well as telephone and fax numbers. The Editor reserves the right to return the manuscript if it is not submitted in the required format.
Tables, figures and illustrations. These should not be inserted throughout the main text of the manuscript, but should each be on a separate page at the end of the manuscript after the references. The approximate position in the text for each table, etc. should be indicated on a separate line in the manuscript.
References. Identify all references to books, monographs, articles and other sources, at an appropriate point in the main text, by citing the author's last name, year of publication, and pagination where appropriate, all within parentheses.
Reference List. List all entries cited in the text alphabetically by author and year of publication in a separate, headed, reference section. Please follow the examples given:
