Instructions for Authors

Submission

Manuscripts to be considered for publication and books for review should be sent to The Editors, Globalisation, Societies and Education, Graduate School of Education, University of Bristol, 35 Berkeley Square, Bristol, BS8 1JA, UK. Email: r.dale@bristol.ac.uk, s.l.robertson@bristol.ac.uk

Three complete copies of each manuscript should be submitted as well as a floppy disc containing a PC or Macintosh-formatted Microsoft Word file of the paper's text.

Manuscripts should normally be between 3,000 and 7,000 words in length and must be written in English. They should be printed on one single side of A4 or 8 X 11 inch white good quality paper, double-spaced throughout with ample margins. References to the author should be avoided to ensure anonymity in the refereeing process.

The full postal and e-mail address of the author who will check proofs and receive correspondence and off-prints should be included. All pages should be numbered.

An abstract of no more than 100 words in length, a list of up to six keywords and a very brief (c60 word-long) bio-note about the author(s) must be included. Footnotes to the text are strongly discouraged.

Articles submitted to Globalisation, Societies and Education should not be under consideration by any other journal, and the letter accompanying the submission of any manuscript should contain a clear statement to this effect.

Books for Review should be sent to Peter Jones, Graduate School of Education, University of Bristol, 35 Berkeley Square, Bristol, BS8 1JA, UK

Tables, illustrations and figures Authors must obtain permission to reproduce illustrations when necessary, and pay the relevant copyright fees and other costs. Such or any other kind of illustration, as well as Tables and Figures, should be submitted on separate sheets and not included in the text of the article. Figures will not be redrawn by the publisher. Accordingly, they should be submitted in a form that is suitable for publication. The place at which a table, figure or illustration is to be inserted in the printed text should be indicated clearly on the manuscript. Captions should include keys to symbols.

Manuscripts should be written clearly and concisely, using arguments that are fully substantiated with well-reasoned analysis and, where appropriate, empirical evidence. All acronyms for national agencies, examinations, etc. should be spelled out the first time they are mentioned. Contributors are asked to take account of the international readership of Globalisation, Societies and Education by explaining in full the use of terms that might be meaningful only to a particular local or national audience.
