Instructions for Authors

***Note to Authors: please make sure your contact address information is clearly visible on the outside of all packages you are sending to Editors.***

Contributions should be sent to: Professor G. J. van Gelder, The Oriental Institute, University of Oxford, Pusey Lane, Oxford, OX1 2LE, UK. Email: gerard.vangelder@orinst.ox.ac.uk.

A copy of each manuscript should be submitted, typed on one side of A4 paper, double spaced. The first page should have the title of the article. The names and institutional affiliation of the author(s) should be given separately. An English abstract of c. 150 words should be included. Please submit a copy of the article on disk as well as on hard-copy, or alternatively, email your article as an attachment to the email address above. After submission, two or more referees will be asked to comment on the extent to which the proposed article meets the aims of the journal and will be of interest to the readers. Comments and any suggestions for amendment of the paper will be passed to the author(s).

Transliteration: Contributors should use, consistently, an acknowledged scholarly system of their choice. If it is necessary to use the original Middle Eastern script, such passages should be provided camera-ready, in one or a few bits rather than numerous separate ones.

Notes should be placed at the foot of each relevant page, numbered sequentially, corresponding to numbers flagged at relevant points in the text. The journal uses the Chicago footnote system. If you have any queries about references or formatting your article, please contact authorqueries@tandf.co.uk (please mention the journal title in your email).

Illustrations, including maps, diagrams and photographs, may be included. These should be good quality originals; a laser print is usually acceptable. Please also supply illustrations on disk, at the highest quality possible, at least 300dpi.

Proofs will be made available to authors online. They should be corrected and returned to the publisher within three days. Major alterations to the text cannot be accepted.

Reprints: Corresponding authors will receive free online access to their article through our website (www.informaworld.com) and a complimentary copy of the issue containing their article. Reprints of articles published in this journal can be purchased through Rightslink® when proofs are received or alternatively on our journals website. If you have any queries, please contact our reprints department at reprints@tandf.co.uk

Copyright: It is a condition of publication that authors assign copyright or license licence the publication rights in their articles, including abstracts, to Taylor & Francis. This enables us to ensure full copyright protection and to disseminate the article, and of course the Journal, to the widest possible readership in print and electronic formats as appropriate. Authors retain many other rights under the Taylor & Francis rights policies, which can be found at www.informaworld.com/authors_journals_copyright_position. Authors are themselves responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyright material from other sources.
