Instructions for Authors

Contributions to Innovations in Education and Teaching International of around 5,000 words (inclusive of an abstract, references, biographical notes, tables and figures) should be sent as email attachments in MSWord or .rtf attachments to the assistant editor, Liz Thomson at IETI@seda.ac.uk. Contributions should be written in a scholarly and accessible manner and should include a summary / abstract of 100 – 150 words. A brief biographical note with full contact details including email, day-time telephone number and institutional affiliation must also be included for each author.

Articles may be conceptual, theoretical, research-based, comparative or critically reflective case studies. In all instances they should locate the study in the relevant current literature, provide critical insights into the issue being considered, and be of interest to an international audience..  Potential contributors may submit a 200-word proposal to ascertain if the article is likely to be of interest to the journal but please note an expression of interest is no guarantee of acceptance. Send proposals to IETI@seda.ac.uk. Potential contributors are advised to look at previous editions of the journal.

Submitted articles will be considered by the editors before, if thought suitable, being sent out for anonymous review to two referees. We aim to make decisions and provide feedback within two to four months. Criteria for publication include:

• Be within the aims and scope of IETI i.e. on any aspect of promoting, supporting and critiquing educational change in higher and other post-school education, with an emphasis on research, scholarship and evaluation, rather than mere description of practice.
• Being of interest to the international audience of IETI
• Providing a sound critical insight into aspects of theory and practice
• Being methodologically and ethically sound
• Being appropriately located within the relevant current literature

Contributions are accepted for publication on condition that the copyright in all original materials vests in Taylor & Francis and that the contributor has obtained any necessary permission and paid any fees for the use of other materials already subject to copyright. Contributors therefore undertake that their material is not a violation of any copyright and undertake to indemnify the Association for any loss occasioned to the Association in consequence of any breech of this undertaking.
