The editors encourage submission on 3.5"diskette to facilitate rapid accessibility of your work to the readers. The electronic files and the printout must be identical. If possible, save in Word for Windows or in RTF-format. The diskette should be labelled with your name and the name of the computer platform and version of the word processing system you have used.
Please use these simple guidelines when preparing your electronic manuscript:
- Be consistent. The same elements should be keyed in exactly the same way throughout the manuscript.
- Do not break words at the end of lines. Use a hyphen only to hyphenate compound words.
- Enter only one space after the full stop at the end of a sentence.
- When emphasizing words, please use the italic feature of your word processor software.
- Do not justify your text; use a ragged right-hand margin.
- Use a double hyphen (--) to indicate a dash in text.
- Do not use the lowercase l for 1 (one) or the uppercase O for 0 (zero).
- The space bar should only be used as a word separator. Use TAB when indenting paragraphs or separating columns in tables.
- Please keep graphic elements (e.g. images) as separate files (e.g. EPS- or TIF-files). Originals of good quality can also be submitted as usual.
Articles should be accompanied by a record of the author's name, address, affiliation, and a contact fax number or e-mail address. Please print out the submittal form, fill it out and send it together with your diskette. All articles should include an abstract of no more than 100-150 words.
Since Minerals & Energy is an inter-disciplinary journal, uncommon professional and technical terms should be avoided if possible. Where such terms are necessary, they should be defined in the text or in a footnote. Extensive mathematical or chemical formulas are discouraged.
Shorter items
We also invite authors to submit material, which might not be appropriate for full-length articles. This can include shorter comments on articles that have been published in the Minerals & Energy or on any subject that is suitable for publication (1500-2500 words). Conference announcements are also encouraged.
Book reviews are welcomed. Reviews are normally 1000-1500 words in length and should be submitted to the Book Review Editor, who is responsible for the final decision on whether a book review is published.
Presentation of manuscripts
Each manuscript should be typewritten on one side only. It should conform to the Journal style outlined below. Pages should be numbered consecutively. The text should be organized under appropriate section headings.
Bibliographical references should be included in the notes. Notes should be numbered consecutively and placed at the end of the main text. A list of references should appear after the list notes and should include all the works referred to, listed alphabetically by author's surname. Authors' acknowledgements are to be given on a separate sheet and will be printed at the end of the article.
Figures should be clearly drawn, with clearly marked axes. They should be submitted on separate sheets and accompanied by the basic statistics required for their preparation. Tables should be typed on separate sheets and numbered in Arabic numerals. Their desired location should be indicated in the text. Sources should be clearly stated beneath the figures and tables. All measurements should be given in metric (SI) units.
Copyright and authors' rights
It is a condition of publication that authors assign copyright or license the publication rights in their articles, including abstracts, to Taylor & Francis. This enables us to ensure full copyright protection and to disseminate the article, and of course the Journal, to the widest possible readership in print and electronic formats as appropriate. Authors retain many rights under the Taylor & Francis rights policies, which can be found at www.informaworld.com/authors_journals_copyright_position. Authors are themselves responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyright material from other sources.
Exceptions are made for authors of Crown or US Government employees whose policies require that copyright cannot be transferred to other parties. We ask that a signed statement to this effect is submitted when returning proofs for accepted papers.
