Spatial Cognition & Computation
Instructions for Authors
Aims and Scope
Spatial Cognition and Computation, a multidisciplinary journal, is based on the assumption that the critical issues pertaining to spatial cognition and computation lie at the intersection of a number of disciplines—in particular, cognitive psychology, computer science, geography, linguistics, neuropsychology, and artificial intelligence. Recent years have seen a growth in the desire of these communities to share insights and results.
The aim of the journal is to focus the presentation of research into spatial cognition and computation, and to explicitly encourage an interdisciplinary dialogue. Research articles, empirical studies, integrative reviews of the literature, and shorter opinion pieces will be considered for publication. Due to the range of academic disciplines, problems to be addressed by the research should be of a general interest, and authors are encouraged to present their ideas in a manner that is accessible to the entire journal readership. Proposals for single-topic issues will also be considered.
Submission of Manuscripts for Review
Manuscripts should be submitted in electronic form to the journal editors at http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/hspcc. Authors are encouraged to submit manuscripts for review as a single PDF. On submission, authors will be required to state that their manuscript has not been published elsewhere and that it has not been submitted simultaneously for publication elsewhere. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted material from other sources and are required to sign an agreement for the transfer of copyright to the publisher. All accepted manuscripts, artwork, and photographs become the property of the publisher.
Submission of Accepted Manuscripts
Upon acceptance the authors should submit the source files in electronic form (MS Word or Latex) to the journal editors at http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/hspcc. All final manuscripts should conform to the guidelines presented in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (5th ed.) Help on preparing APA style manuscripts is available here: http://www.apastyle.org/elecref.html. Style sheets for Latex are available at CTAN (http://www.ctan.org/tex-archive/macros/latex/contrib/apa/ and http://www.ctan.org/tex-archive/biblio/bibtex/contrib/apacite/). A Microsoft Word sample is also available.
All parts of the manuscript should be typewritten, double-spaced, with margins of at least one inch on all sides. Number manuscript pages consecutively throughout the paper. Authors should also supply a shortened version of the title suitable for the running head, not exceeding 50 character spaces. Each article should be summarized in an abstract of not more than 100 words. Avoid abbreviations, diagrams, and reference to the text in the abstract.
