Culture, Health & Sexuality
An International Journal for Research, Intervention and Care
Instructions for Authors
Please read these Guidelines carefully. Failure to follow them may result in consideration of your paper being delayed.
Submitting a Paper to Culture, Health & Sexuality
All submissions should be made online at Culture Health and Sexuality's ScholarOne Manuscripts site. New users should first create an account. Once a user is logged onto the site submissions should be made via the Author Centre.
Authors should prepare and upload two versions of their manuscript. One should be a complete text, while in the second all document information identifying the author should be removed from files to allow them to be sent anonymously to referees. When uploading files authors will then be able to define the non-anonymous version as "File not for review".
General Guidelines
Culture, Health & Sexuality considers all manuscripts on the strict condition that they have been submitted only to Culture, Health & Sexuality, and that they have not been published already nor are they under consideration for publication or in press elsewhere. Authors who fail to adhere to this condition will be charged with all costs which Culture, Health & Sexuality incurs and their papers will not be published.
Contributions to Culture, Health & Sexuality must report original research and will be subjected to peer review.
There are a limited number of colour pages within the annual page allowance. Authors should restrict their use of colour to situations where it is necessary on scientific, and not merely cosmetic, grounds. In addition, authors may pay to publish colour illustrations, but please consult the publisher regarding cost before submission.
Writing your paper
- For all manuscripts non-discriminatory language is mandatory. Sexist, heterosexist, and racist terms should not be used.

- Manuscripts should be double-spaced throughout including the reference section, with wide (3 cm) margins.
- All the authors of a paper should include their full names, affiliations, postal and email addresses, telephone and fax numbers on the cover page of manuscripts.
- Abstracts of 150 - 200 words are required for all papers submitted and should precede the text of a paper.
- Manuscripts should be compiled in the following order: title page; abstract; keywords; main text; acknowledgments; appendixes (as appropriate); references; table(s) with caption(s) (on individual sheets); figure caption(s) (as a list).
