The Centre of North African Studies (CNAS)
CNAS was founded in 1995 to act as a focus for research and study of North Africa in the United Kingdom. Covering all the countries of the region, from Morocco to Egypt and the Sudan, it promotes academic research and policy-oriented studies on the history, politics, economics and cultures of the region. The CNAS is located at the Centre of International Studies at the University of Cambridge. It has links with a number of research institutes and universities in the United Kingdom, including the Institute of Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies at the University of Durham and the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London. The Centre also has links in North Africa itself, with, for example, the Al-Akhawayn University in Morocco and the Centre d'études maghrébines à Tunis (CEMAT). It also collaborates with the American Institute for Maghrib Studies (AIMS) over The Journal of North African Studies. Visit www.intstudies.cam.ac.uk/research/cnas/
