Instructions for Authors
***Note to Authors: please make sure your contact address information is clearly visible on the outside of all packages you are sending to Editors.***
Journal of Muslim Minority Affairs remains the only journal in the world committed to scholarly and systematic study of Muslim minority communities living in non-Muslim societies. Our focus is on studying the social, economic, political and demographic situation of these communities, and our interest extends to include the situation of non-Muslim communities living in Muslim societies, with the objective of widening our understanding of the minority experience.
JMMA is published three times a year. It welcomes submissions of previously unpublished research articles and book reviews from all interested scholars and students of minority affairs. To further the intellectual discourse, JMMA invites comments on articles in preceding issues as well as information, announcements and reports on current events relevant to the minority experience, for which space is provided under the Spectrum section.
JMMA is a refereed journal and acceptance of full length articles for publication is subject to peer-review. All manuscripts should be submitted in two hard copies, typed double spaced.
Articles submitted for consideration of publication must not have been previously published in English or in any other language, and must not have been submitted simultaneously to any other journal for consideration of publication.
Style
No bibliographical references should be inserted within the text. They should be included under NOTES and numbered consecutively and grouped together at the end of the article after proper referencing throughout the text. The style of citation in Notes should be as follows:
For books: M. Ali Kettani, Muslim Minorities in the World Today, London: Mansell Publishing, 1986.
For chapters: W. S. Vucinic, "Islam in the Balkans", in Religion in the Middle East, edited by A. J. Arberry. Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, 1969, pp. 162-189.
For articles: Raymond Scupin, “The Socio-Economic Status of Muslims in Central and North Thailand”, Journal Institute of Muslim Minority Affairs, Vol. 3, No. 2, Winter, 1981, pp. 1-16.
When references to the same work follow without interruption use ibid. and when interrupted by other notes use author's last name, short form of the title and op. cit. For further information consult the Chicago Manual of Style. For Arabic, Persian, Turkish or Urdu transliteration follow the Library of Congress Style. Tables, maps and diagrams should be numbered consecutively and placed appropriately within the text, or placed in an appendix at the end of the article after the Notes.
The Editors reserve the right to make editorial revisions. However, no major changes will be made without the author's approval, at which stage authors will be expected to return the revised manuscript promptly.
