Instructions for Authors

All submissions should be made online at the European Review of History Manuscript Central site. New users should first create an account. Once a user is logged onto the site submissions should be made via the Author Centre.

Authors should prepare and upload two versions of their manuscript. One should be a complete text, while in the second all document information identifying the author should be removed from files to allow them to be sent anonymously to referees. When uploading files authors will then be able to define the non-anonymous version as “File not for review”.

Contributors should use as little formatting as possible; they should not justify right-hand margins in particular. Use a fixed-pitch (non-proportional) font, such as 'Courier'.

Articles should not exceed 8,000 words (excluding notes). Abstracts of up to 200 words should accompany articles. Other material should not normally exceed 2,000 words. Book reviews should be between 500 and 1,000 words.

Tables and captions must be presented on separate pages and numbered consecutively by Arabic numerals. Positions of tables etc. should be indicated in the manuscript. Figures and line drawings should be supplied in a camera-ready form suitable for printing.
