Instructions for Authors

All articles and reviews submitted to The European Legacy undergo peer-review. Manuscripts and Notes, typed double-spaced, should be submitted to the Editors electronically.

All submissions should be made online at The European Legacy Manuscript Central site . New users should first create an account. Once a user is logged onto the site submissions should be made via the Author Centre.

Authors should prepare and upload two versions of their manuscript. One should be a complete text, while in the second all document information identifying the author should be removed from files to allow them to be sent anonymously to referees. When uploading files authors will then be able to define the non-anonymous version as “File not for review”.

When preparing your manuscript for submission, notes, tables and illustrations should appear on separate pages and be created using WordPerfect or Microsoft Word. The author's full address should be supplied as a footnote to the title page. The title page should be uploaded as a separate file and designated appropriately. Manuscripts should be prepared in accordance with the Chicago Manual of Style, 14th edition, and submitted in English or French. If an article is submitted in German and accepted, the author will be asked to have it translated into English before publication.

Articles should not exceed 6,000-8,000 words in length, including notes; review articles can are generally no longer than 2,000 words. Book reviews should not exceed 800 words or sometimes more, depending on the length of the books reviewed.

Free article access: Corresponding authors can receive 50 free reprints, free online access to their article through our website (http://www.informaworld.com/) and a complimentary copy of the issue containing their article. Complimentary reprints are available through Rightslink® and additional reprints can be ordered through Rightslink® when proofs are received.
