***Note to Authors: please make sure your contact address information is clearly visible on the outside of all packages you are sending to Editors.***

  1. All materials should be original, unpublished, and submitted exclusively to CLAR.
  2. Article and review essay references must follow the author-date system as explained in The Chicago Manual of Style (15th ed.). Typescripts that do not follow this format will be returned to the author.
  3. Maximum length of typescript for articles, including endnotes but not bibliography, is 35 pp.; for review essays, it is 25 pp., including endnotes and bibliography. All submissions should be double-spaced, including quotations and endnotes and pages numbered consecutively throughout.
  4. Do not italicize foreign words that appear in Webster's College Dictionary or The Random House Dictionary (2nd unabridged ed.).
  5. Illustrations or photographs should not be embedded in the text but supplied either as camera-ready copy (black and white) or as separate files, preferably TIFF or JPG, saved to a high resolution. The location of the image should be indicated in the text file. All should be labelled clearly and include the pertinent captions. Graphics should be supplied with the size of the available text area borne in mind: 125mmx 195mm.
  6. For articles and review essays, the author's name should be typed two spaces below the title, both with normal capitalization and flush left with the margin. The author's affiliation should be given under a short rule at the foot of the first page.
  7. Acknowledgements should be placed at the end of the article before the Notes section.
  8. The corresponding author's email address and full street address must be supplied for mailing proofs and the complimentary copy of the journal.
  9. In addition to three (3) copies of your typescript, please send your manuscript in Microsoft Word. Please label the diskette with your name and title of your article.
  10. Together with your typescript and diskette, please send a short paragraph (maximum 9 lines) about your academic accomplishments for our list of contributors. It should include the following: a. Name (use capital); b. Rank; c. Academic affiliation; d. Research interests; e. Major fellowships; f. Recent books (please indicate year of publication) or articles (please list only the journal(s) in which they appear).
  11. Articles should be sent to: Prof. Frederick Luciani, Department of Romance Languages and Literatures, Colgate University, Hamilton, NY 13346, U.S.A.
  12. Reviews and review articles will be solicited by the Book Review Editor: Kris Lane, Dept. of History, College of William & Mary, Williamsburg, Virginia 23187-8795, USA.
  13. Contributors to CLAR are expected to subscribe to the journal.
  14. Copyright. It is a condition of publication that authors assign copyright or license the publication rights in their articles, including abstracts, to Taylor & Francis on behalf of CLAR. This enables us to ensure full copyright protection and to disseminate the article, and of course the Journal, to the widest possible readership in print and electronic formats as appropriate. Authors may, of course, use the article elsewhere after publication without prior permission from Taylor & Francis, provided that acknowledgement is given to the Journal as original source of publication, and that Taylor & Francis is notified so that our records show that its use is properly authorised. Authors retain a number of other rights under the Taylor & Francis rights policies documents. These policies are referred to at http://www.tandf.co.uk/journals/authorrights.pdf for full details. Authors are themselves responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyright material from other sources.

Free article access: Corresponding authors can receive 50 free reprints, free online access to their article through our website (www.informaworld.com) and a complimentary copy of the issue containing their article. Complimentary reprints are available through Rightslink® and additional reprints can be ordered through Rightslink® when proofs are received. If you have any queries, please contact our reprints department at reprints@tandf.co.uk
