Central States Communication Association
The purpose of CSCA, a not-for-profit corporation, shall be to unite those persons in the Central States area with an academic or professional interest in all disciplines of communication at all educational levels, for the promotion of their mutual interests and the advancement of their common field.

University of Houston School of Communication
The University of Houston School of Communication also supports and houses Communication Studies. Its editor, from 2003-2006, is Jim Query. Twelve School of Communication undergraduate and graduate students serve as editorial and research assistants. The School of Communication currently serves 1,400 undergraduates, 48 post baccalaureate students, and 81 graduate students. Six teaching assistantships are provided on a rotating and competitive basis. The curriculum currently emphasizes public relations/corporate communication, communication studies (which include health and risk communication), and mass media studies. Both the B.A. and M.A. degrees are offered. Plans are underway to establish an institute in health and risk communication. When fully staffed, the School of Communication has 15 tenure-track or tenured positions, five clinical/practitioner faculty positions, and over 20 adjunct faculty members.
Aided by an internal grant from UH, The Center for Health and Crisis Communication is being established.
