Instructions for Authors
Submission of Manuscripts. All material submitted to the journal must be original, that is, not have appeared in any other publication, and must not be under consideration in any other journal. Every article submitted to CJR should be considered editorially ready; we do not look at drafts for feedback. All submissions will follow the conventional process for peer review.
Please submit electronically two copies of your manuscript-the first containing the full text with author demographic information, the second prepared for blind review-to Assistant Editor, Brandi Vigil. Related editorial inquiries can be directed to Editor-in-Chief, Dan Okada.
Format. Following are the layout specifications authors should follow in preparing their articles: (a) at the top of the first page: the title of the paper with the author's name and affiliation directly below; (b) directly below title/author's name/affiliation: an abstract of 150-200 words; (c) immediately below the abstract: six key words describing the content of the work; (d) then the body of the text; (e) following the article's full text: the Notes; (f) following the Notes: the Reference List formatted to style; (g) following references should be tables and figures; (h) at the end of the text materials should be listed full demographic data including: name, address, telephone number, fax number, and email address of contact author, the person to whom proofs will be sent and, after publication, a copy of the journal; and (i): a short (two to three line) biographical sketch.

Preview. Before a submitted article is sent out for review, the Editor-in-Chief will determine whether the content of the article fits the aims and scope of the journal. If an article does not, the author will be notified immediately. Of course decisions reached in this case have nothing to do with the quality of the work in question. Authors interested in publishing in CJR are encouraged to first look at previously published work to see whether their work is consistent with the aims and scope of the journal. Additional information can be found at the publications link at www.justicestudies.org, the Justice Studies Association website for which CJR serves as the authorized journal.
Review Process. Authors will be notified by the Managing Editor or Assistant Editor that the submission has been received and that the review process has been set in motion. Authors whose work has been reviewed, and for which revisions have been requested, will be sent the reviews themselves or in some cases a summary of the requested revisions. If the author decides to continue in the process and revise, the resubmitted article should be accompanied by a cover letter in which the author indicates exactly how he or she responded to the changes asked for. The revised work may be sent back to the original reviewers for a subsequent read.
Accepted Work. Once an article is accepted for publication, the author should submit the final copy in the required format to the Assistant Editor. An accepted article will appear in the next available issue of the journal. Ordinarily the time between acceptance and publication is six months to a year after the final version of the article has been received by the Assistant Editor.
Production. Usually within six weeks after acceptance the author will receive proofs of the article in pdf which should be corrected and the changes sent to Taylor & Francis within 48 hours. Accompanying the proofs will be information about how to proceed with the corrections electronically within the Taylor and Francis system. Authors should note that the correction of proofs is not a re-write stage; before any significant changes are made in the proofs, the author should notify the Editor-in-Chief. Shortly after the issue containing an author's work has appeared, the author will receive a complimentary copy of that issue and a pdf of the article to make a limited number of copies for personal use.
Free article access:
Corresponding authors will receive free online access to their article through our website (www.informaworld.com) and a complimentary copy of the issue containing their article. Reprints of articles published in this journal can be purchased through Rightslink® when proofs are received. If you have any queries, please contact our reprints department at reprints@tandf.co.uk
Copyright
It is a condition of publication that authors assign copyright or license the publication rights in their articles, including abstracts, to Taylor & Francis. This enables us to ensure full copyright protection and to disseminate the article, and of course the Journal, to the widest possible readership in print and electronic formats as appropriate. Authors may, of course, use the article elsewhere after publication without prior permission from Taylor & Francis, provided that acknowledgement is given to the Journal as original source of publication, and that Taylor & Francis is notified so that our records show that its use is properly authorised. Authors retain a number of other rights under the Taylor & Francis rights policies documents. These policies are referred to at http://www.tandf.co.uk/journals/authorrights.pdf for full details. Authors are themselves responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyright material from other sources.
