Instructions for Authors

SESI Journal invites original contributions on all aspects of renewable energy, including basic science, technology, policy, economics, extension and field monitoring issues. Research papers, articles, technical notes, short communications, book reviews, letters to the authors, reports of conferences and meetings are invited. Timely and comprehensive review papers summarising the state-of-the-art research developments both in India and abroad are welcome.

Review Process

All manuscripts are subjected to a critical review and the final decision relating to a manuscript's suitability for publication rests solely with the Editor, SESI Journal.

Submission of Manuscripts

All complete manuscripts (including text, tables, figures, photographs etc.) should be submitted in duplicate (hard copy) and also via e-mail or on a CD-ROM (softcopy) to:

The Editor

Manuscripts should be typed legibly on one side of paper (size: 8.5" × 11") leaving at least 3 cm margins at top, bottom and both sides. For research papers, the maximum length of the matter should not exceed 20 pages, inclusive of all figures, tables, captions, footnotes and references. For brief communications the length should be kept to 7 pages. Each paper should be accompanied with an abstract and keywords. The abstract, not exceeding 250 words, should state the principal objectives of the research, describe the methods employed and summarise the results and conclusion. Authors should maintain consistency in spelling. All the pages should be numbered consecutively, including the tables and figures. Articles should be complete, clear and lucid. The authors should cover their subject thoroughly but as concisely as possible. Platitudes or repetitions of facts considered well-known to the reader should be avoided in the text.

Illustrations

Originals of drawings, illustrations and photographs in black and white must accompany the manuscripts. Line drawings in the form of high-quality computer generated prints (preferably 1200 dpi laser printout) or in black-ink on tracing paper are also acceptable. Graphs, bar diagrams and similar illustrations prepared by using graphic software, in black and white, are also acceptable. Photocopies are not acceptable at all as illustrations. The original artwork and the lettering should be of suitable size to enable good quality reproduction.

References

References to be published should be numbered in the sequence in which they are referred to in the text. Arabic numerals within parentheses can be used as an indicator in the text. Each reference should be quoted in the following sequence:

For journals

Last name followed by initials for all the author(s), Year of publication, Exact title of the paper, Name of Journal (in italics), Volume number (in bold lettering), Initial and final page numbers of the article.

For books

Last name followed by initials for all the author(s), Year of publication, Exact title of the chapter/paper, Exact title of the book (in italics), Name of Author(s)/Editor(s), Edition, Name of the publisher, Place of publication, Initial and final page numbers.

Tables and Figures

Each table or figure should be on a separate sheet with an explanatory caption. The table should be numbered in Arabic numerals; the explanatory title should make each table intelligible without reference to the text. The source of data in the table, if from a reference, should be mentioned at the bottom of the table. Supply a full citation for tables and figures taken from already published literature.

Footnotes

All text intended for footnotes should be put in a section titled Notes which will appear before References. The notes should be indicated in the text with lower case alphabets in superscript and should appear in the Notes section in the same order in which they are mentioned in the text.

Copyright

Author(s) must sign a statement transferring copyright of accepted manuscripts to SESI before publication. It is a condition of publication that manuscripts submitted to this Journal have not been published and will not be simultaneously submitted or published elsewhere. By submitting a manuscript, the authors agree that the copyright for their article is transferred to the Solar Energy Society of India if and when the article is accepted for publication. The copyright covers the exclusive reprints, photographic reproductions, microform or any other reproductions of similar nature and transactions.
