Instructions for Authors

Journal of Property Research welcomes submissions via ScholarOneTM Manuscripts site: http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/rjpr. Please read further details below.

Submission

Submission of an article to Journal of Property Research is taken to imply that it represents original, unpublished work, not under consideration for publication elsewhere.

Manuscript Submission

All submissions should be made online at the Journal of Property Research ScholarOneTM Manuscripts site. New users should first create an account. Once a user is logged onto the site submissions should be made via the Author Centre. Authors should prepare and upload two versions of their manuscript. One should be a complete text, while in the second all document information identifying the author should be removed from files to allow them to be sent anonymously to reviewers. When uploading files authors will then be able to define the non-anonymous version as “File not for review.”

Manuscripts may be submitted in any standard format, including Word, PostScript and PDF. These files will be automatically converted into a PDF file for the review process.

The refereeing process is double blind and all submitted papers will be referred to at least two reviewers.

Manuscript Preparation:

1. General Guidelines:

  • Please delete all identifying names/institutions, as the Journal of Property Research uses a double-blind peer review process. All authors should be listed during the submission process.
  • Manuscripts should be compiled in the following order: title page; abstract; keywords; main text; acknowledgments; appendices (as appropriate); references; tables with captions on separate sheets; figure captions as a list.
  • The title page must contain the full title; the names, affiliations and addresses of the authors, with corresponding author indicated; a running title of not more than 75 characters (including spaces); and five key words for the purpose of indexing.
  • An abstract of no more than 200 words is required for all papers submitted.
  • The manuscript must be in English, in double spacing on A4 with a 4 cm margin on the left-hand side.
  • Although there is no fixed limit on the length of articles, it would be appreciated if contributors keep their manuscripts within 5,000-10,000 words. Concise presentation is encouraged.
  • The pages should be numbered consecutively.
  • A limited number of explanatory page notes are permissible. These should be numbered consecutively in the text and denoted by superscripts.
  • The manuscript should be arranged under numbered headings and subheadings, for example 1, 2, 2.1, 2.2, 2.2.1. and so on.
  • All measurements should be given in metric units.

2. Style guidelines

Description of the Journal's article style
Description of the Journal's reference style, Quick guide
Please use British spelling (e.g. colour, organise) and punctuation. Use single quotation marks with double within if needed.

This journal requires a short paragraph of bibliographical details for all contributors.
If you have any questions about references or formatting your article, please contact authorqueries@tandf.co.uk (please mention the journal title in your email).

Word templates

Word templates are available for this journal.
Please open and read the instruction document first, as this will explain how to save and then use the template. Select the template that is most suitable for your operating system.
If you are not able to use the template via the links or if you have any other template queries, please contact authortemplate@tandf.co.uk

3. Figures

We welcome figures sent electronically, but care and attention to these guidelines are essential as importing graphics packages can often be problematic.

  • Illustrations (including photographs, graphs and diagrams) should be referred to as Figures and their position indicated in the text (e.g. Figure 3). Each figure should be numbered with Figure number (Arabic numerals).
  • Figures must be saved separate to text. Please do not embed figures in the paper file.
  • Files should be saved as one of the following formats: TIFF (tagged image file format), PostScript or EPS (encapsulated PostScript).
  • All figures must be numbered in the order in which they appear in the paper (e.g. figure 1, figure 2). In multi-part figures, each part should be labelled (e.g. figure 1(a), figure 1(b)).
  • Figure captions must be saved separately, as part of the file containing the complete text of the paper, and numbered correspondingly.
  • The filename for a graphic should be descriptive of the graphic, e.g. Figure1, Figure2a.

Please note that it is in the author's interest to provide the highest quality figure format possible. Please do not hesitate to contact our Production Department if you have any queries.

Proofs

Proofs will be sent to the corresponding author for correction. The difficulty and expense involved in making amendments at proof stage make it essential for authors to prepare their manuscript carefully: any alterations to the original text are strongly discouraged. Our aim is rapid publication: this will be helped if authors provide good copy following the above instructions, and return their proofs as quickly as possible.

Free article access
: Corresponding authors will receive free online access to their article through our website (www.informaworld.com) and a complimentary copy of the issue containing their article. Reprints of articles published in this journal can be purchased through Rightslink® when proofs are received. If you have any queries, please contact our reprints department at reprints@tandf.co.uk

Copyright

It is a condition of publication that authors assign copyright or license the publication rights in their articles, including abstracts, to Taylor & Francis. This enables us to ensure full copyright protection and to disseminate the article, and of course the Journal, to the widest possible readership in print and electronic formats as appropriate. Authors retain many rights under the Taylor & Francis rights policies, which can be found at www.informaworld.com/authors_journals_copyright_position. Authors are themselves responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyright material from other sources.
