Instructions for Authors

Submission of Manuscripts:

Society & Natural Resources receives all manuscript submissions electronically via their Manuscript Central website, available at http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/usnr;  please direct other general correspondence to the Incoming Editors-in-Chief for 2009 at snr@unb.ca. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted material from other sources and are required to sign an agreement for the transfer of copyright to the publisher. All accepted manuscripts, artwork, and photographs become the property of the publisher.

Descriptions of the types of articles published in the journal and additional information for authors are found under the Instructions and Forms link at the top right of any Manuscript Central page. They can also be found by
clicking on the Types of Articles link at http://www.tandf.co.uk/journals/authors/usnrarticles.pdf and on the inside cover of the journal.

All parts of the manuscript should be typewritten, doublespaced, with margins of at least one inch on all sides. Authors should also supply a shortened version of the title suitable for the running head, not exceeding 50character spaces. Each article should be summarized in an abstract of not more that 150 words. Avoid abbreviations, diagrams, and reference to the text within the abstract. Authors must give from three to ten keywords that identify the most important subjects covered by the paper. Manuscript length varies by type of article:

  • General Research Articles: 7,300 words
  • Insights and Applications: 4,500 words
  • Policy Reviews and Essays: 3,500 words
  • Forum: 2,200 words
  • Research Note: 1,500 words

Word limits include all references, notes, tables and figures. Word limits do not include the title page, abstract, and keywords. One figure is equivalent to about 300 words. Please keep the length of your manuscript at or near these limits.

Manuscripts that exceed the length limits will be returned without review.
