Mineral Processing & Extractive Metallurgy Review
Instructions for Authors
Aims and Scope. Mineral Processing and Extractive Metallurgy Review publishes papers dealing with both applied and theoretical aspects of extractive and process metallurgy and mineral processing. It emphasizes research germane to specific industrial processes and research that examines economic and environmental issues as well as basic engineering technology. Review papers devoted to one genesis, properties and uses of minerals, the scientific, engineering and economic aspects of the extraction, separation and purification of minerals and metals, and the post-treatment of mineral processing and extractive treatment of mineral processing and extractive metallurgy effluents are also invited. In addition to regular issues, special issues addressing narrowly focused subjects of regional or topical significance are published when the Editor feels there is sufficient interest among readers.
Submission of Manuscripts. Manuscripts should initially be submitted in electronic form to the Editor-in-Chief, Dr. S. Komar Kawatra, for review. These should be sent by email to skkawatr@mtu.edu in either Microsoft Word or PDF format. Received manuscripts will be peer-reviewed, and authors will be provided with reviewers' comments and all necessary forms for final submission. Submissions of final manuscripts should be sent to Dr. S. Komar Kawatra, Michigan Technological University, Chemical Engineering Department, 1400 Townsend Drive, Houghton, Michigan 49931 USA. The submission should include two copies of the following four items: (1) completed transmittal forms; (2) signed copyright forms; (3) a hard copy of the paper; and (4) an electronic copy of the paper on computer disk. Authors are strongly encouraged to submit manuscripts prepared using MS Word or WordPerfect, and the disk should be clearly labeled with the authors' names, file name, and software program used to prepare the manuscript. Each manuscript must be accompanied by a statement that it has not been published elsewhere and that it has not been submitted simultaneously for publication elsewhere.
Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted material from other sources and are required to sign an agreement for the transfer of copyright to the publisher. All accepted manuscripts, artwork, and photographs become the property of the publisher.
References. Should be listed at the end of the paper and refer only to material cited in the manuscript. They should be listed in alphabetical order by the lead author's last name. In the text, reference citations should include author and year of publication
(Brown 1978). Multiple references are listed in the text chronologically and, in the case of more than one work by the same author or authors in the same year, they are to be listed as Brown 1978a and Brown 1978b. Give both last names for dual authors; for more than two, use ‘‘et al.'' in the text. When two authors have the same last name, use identifying initials in the text. In the reference section, list all source citations by author, and within author by year of publication.
The reference list must be complete and include all references in the text. The use of ‘‘et al.'' is not acceptable in the reference list; provide the names of all authors. If there is more than one reference to the same author and year, distinguish them by the letters ‘‘a,'' ‘‘b,'' etc. added to the year (Levy 1963a). Give the publisher's name in as brief a form as is fully intelligible. Note that words in titles of journal articles and book chapters are lower case, whereas words in the titles of books, theses, etc. are capitalized. Also note that magazine, journal and book titles appear in italics. If the cited material is unpublished, use ‘‘forthcoming'' with the name of journal or publisher; otherwise use ‘‘unpublished.''

Illustrations. Illustrations submitted (line drawings, halftones, photos, photomicrographs, etc.) should be clean originals or digital files. Digital files are recommended for highest quality reproduction and should follow these guidelines:
-

Online Only Reproduction: $225 for the first page of color; $100 per page for each of the next three pages of color. A maximum charge of $525 applies.
Tables and Figures. Tables and figures should not be embedded in the text, but should be included as separate sheets or files. A short descriptive title should appear above each table with a clear legend and any footnotes suitably identified below. All units must be included. Figures should be completely labeled, taking into account necessary size reduction. Captions should be typed, double-spaced, on a separate sheet. All original figures should be clearly marked in pencil on the reverse side with the number, author's name, and top edge indicated.
