The Political Studies Association of Ireland was established in 1982 with the purpose of promoting the study of politics both in and of Ireland. It adopted a constitution and a formal structure in 1984, when it also began organising an annual conference.
The PSAI has just published (in association with Routledge) Irish Political Studies Reader, which contains a selection of the most influential articles published in Irish Political Studies in the last 20 years, each of which is accompanied by a new commentary on the article' enduring importance. The PSAI also produces a number of publications – a series of guides to Irish election results, a monthly e-mail newsletter for members, and (in association with Routledge) the standard textbook, Politics in the Republic of Ireland, edited by John Coakley and Michael Gallagher (currently in its fourth edition).
Membership (which includes a subscription to Irish Political Studies) costs £35/€50 per annum for full members, or £21/€30 a year for student members.
