Journal of Intercultural Studies
Instructions for Authors
Manuscripts that do not conform to the requirements listed below will not be considered for publication nor will they be returned to their author.
Manuscripts: Length of articles is ideally between 5000-7000 words. Contributors should bear in mind the journal aims and address an international and interdisciplinary audience.
All submissions should be made online at the Journal of Intercultural Studies ScholarOne Manuscripts site. New users should first create an account. Once a user is logged onto the site submissions should be made via the Author Centre.
Authors should prepare and upload two versions of their manuscript. One should be a complete text, while in the second all document information identifying the author should be removed from files to allow them to be sent anonymously to referees. When uploading files authors will then be able to define the non-anonymous version as “File not for review”.
The editors welcome proposals for special issues that address the aims of the journal. See the special issue proposal form for more details.
Articles should be double spaced, have at least 2.5cm margins, and be in 12 point Times New Roman font. Each article should have a separate coverpage that contains the following: an article summary of 100-150 words, a short (100 words) note about the author(s), and full postal and email address of the author who will receive correspondence. All pages should be numbered. Articles should have as few endnotes as is reasonably possible. We prefer to receive files in Microsoft Word (PC format), but can translate from most other common word processing programs as well as Macs. Please specify which program you have used. Do not save your files as 'text only' or 'read only'.
Journal style: JIS uses MLA style (www.mla.org/style). Please follow this style format in all bibliographies, notes, and in-text citations when your article has been accepted and you are submitting your revised, final version. Articles should use British English.
Tables and captions to illustrations - Tables must be included on separate pages and not included as part of the text. The captions to illustrations should be gathered together and printed on a separate sheet. Tables should be numbered by Roman numerals, and figures by Arabic numerals. The approximate position of tables and figures should be indicated in the manuscript. Captions should include keys to symbols.
Figures - Please supply one set of artwork in a finished form, suitable for reproduction. Figures will not be redrawn by the publisher.
Proofs: Proofs will be sent to authors as pdf files.
Free article access: Corresponding authors can receive 50 free reprints, free online access to their article through our website (www.informaworld.com) and a complimentary copy of the issue containing their article. Complimentary reprints are available through Rightslink® and additional reprints can be ordered through Rightslink® when proofs are received. If you have any queries, please contact our reprints department at reprints@tandf.co.uk
